Job title: Line Cook (NOC 63200)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute precise preparation and cooking of individual menu items and full-course meals, ensuring consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation.
  2. Follow standardised recipes and adhere to strict quality control measures.
  3. Adjust seasoning, flavour, and presentation as needed to meet culinary excellence.
  4. Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
  5. Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workstation, adhering to food safety and hygiene protocols.
  6. Utilize professional kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, fryers, and slicers, with expertise and care.
  7. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the head chef or kitchen manager to order ingredients and supplies.
  8. Implement efficient food rotation and storage techniques to minimize waste and uphold quality standards.
  9. Adhere strictly to food safety regulations, including HACCP principles.
  10. Ensure proper handling, storage, and preparation of ingredients to prevent cross-contamination and food borne illnesses.
  11. Follow workplace safety guidelines, including handling hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and heavy kitchen equipment with caution.
  12. Collaborate with chefs, kitchen staff, and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service and food consistency.
  13. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, apprentices, and kitchen assistants as required.
  14. Contribute to menu development by suggesting creative ideas for new dishes and improving existing recipes.
  15. Stay updated on industry trends, culinary techniques, and best practices to enhance kitchen performance.

Job requirement:

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
  • Experience: Must have 2 years to less than 3 years
