Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an Affordable Housing Guarantor/Sponsor Underwriter to join a team of project managers, business development officers and asset managers responsible for underwriting guarantors and sponsors of LIHTC investments.

The role focuses on reviewing financial statements, cash flow, capitalization, and risk across corporate and partnership structures while coordinating with executives and management teams. Hybrid work with in-office presence 3+ days weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with five+ years of related experience or MBA/JD with one+ year of related experience.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with LIHTC or other tax credit structures is a plus.
• Strong relationship management and clear, concise communication skills.
• Ability to simplify complex and voluminous information and to motivate teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with Guarantor(s)/Sponsor(s) executives and CFOs to review financials.
• Gather financial statements, schedules, tax returns, audits, and related documents.
• Conduct meetings with executives and management teams to assess viability of business plans and risk controls.
• Spread and analyze cash flow and legal obligations across corporate and partnership structures.
• Provide recommendations on guarantor structure and deal structure; document in credit package.
