Job summary

EQ Bank is hiring a Commercial Underwriting Manager to support underwriting of CMHC‑insured construction and term loans, as well as traditional commercial mortgages. You will ensure compliance with lending guidelines, manage documentation, and coordinate with partners to meet funding deadlines.

The role requires at least 3 years of underwriting experience, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication. The position is hybrid, with office time in Toronto and flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Proficient underwriting skills with a minimum of 3 years’ commercial mortgage experience.
• Demonstrated service excellence in commercial lending.
• Post-secondary education in business or finance preferred.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with solid organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, both oral and written.
• Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite CMHC‑insured construction and term loans, as well as conventional commercial mortgages.
• Ensure lending guidelines and procedures are followed; obtain approvals as required.
• Manage documentation, conditions, and fund advances in line with credit authorizations.
• Coordinate with origination partners, funders, and internal staff to meet funding deadlines.
• Handle deal flow time management and prepare monthly administrative/periodic reports.
