Repeatedly recognized by The Globe and Mail and Financial Times as one of Canada’s Fastest Growing Companies, Lightenco provides turnkey technology and environmental solutions for commercial and high-rise residential real estate.

Their impact spans from local Ottawa landmarks to national portfolios for giants like Marriott Canada and Minto Group. By delivering Sustainable Energy Audits, turnkey EV Charging infrastructure, Solar PV implementation, high-efficiency LED design, and complex electrical service upgrades, they help building owners convert their properties into high-performing, sustainable assets.

Driven by an entrepreneurial culture, their team combines rigorous engineering and data integrity with a genuine passion for reducing carbon footprints across Canada.

What the Role Is About

In the new EV Engineering Manager role, you will lead the technical team that powers the entire business. Reporting to the Director of Engineering Consulting, you will supervise and mentor a group of Energy Solution Designers who perform site audits, calculate building power capacities, build technical proposals, and apply for utility rebates.

Your main goal is to keep the engineering team organized, supported, and moving fast. Working closely with the Director, you will refine the daily workflows across EV, solar, lighting, and electrical projects so the team can deliver accurate, reliable technical proposals on time. You will bridge the gap between technical engineering and practical business decisions.

What You’ll Do
  • Stamp & Seal Drawings: Act as the primary P.Eng. signing authority for all electrical and EV site drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical submittals.
  • Improve Daily Workflows: Clean up process bottlenecks so project proposals, load calculations, and designs move smoothly from sales to execution.
  • Review Technical Quality: Make sure the electrical calculations, EV site assessments and energy models are accurate and fully compliant with electrical codes.
  • Partner with Sales & Operations: Act as the technical resource for the sales team, helping turn client ideas into practical, buildable projects.
  • Guide the Team: Lead and support a talented, multi-cultural team of Energy Solution Designers.
What You Bring
  • P.Eng. License: Licensed P.Eng in Electrical Engineering in Ontario (or Quebec).
  • People Leadership: Experience leading and coaching a team
  • Electrical Knowledge: Hands‑on experience with commercial electrical systems, power distribution, panel load calculations, the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
  • Clean Energy Experience: Direct experience or strong familiarity with commercial EV chargers (Level 2 & Level 3), solar systems, LED lighting retrofits, or electrical service upgrades.
  • Mission-Driven: A genuine passion for sustainability, environmental stewardship, and helping Canada transition to clean energy.
Why You’ll Love Working at Lightenco
  • Direct Environmental Impact: Come to work every day knowing your efforts directly cut carbon emissions and help protect the environment.
  • Build Something Great: You have the opportunity to directly shape and impact the growing engineering department.
  • Great Team Culture: Join a supportive, passionate team where people look out for each other and care deeply about their work.

*Please note the hybrid work arrangement is 4-days in office, and 1 day WFH.
