Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to establish and lead a growing Electrical Engineering department in the Greater Toronto Area. This hybrid role combines technical design leadership, project delivery, and client development to build a robust practice.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years in electrical building engineering consulting, a P.Eng. or eligibility, and a passion for mentoring engineers while growing client relationships across GTA projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • P.Eng. designation in Ontario or eligibility to obtain it.
  • 10+ years of Electrical Building Engineering consulting experience.
  • Proven leadership of electrical design projects from concept to construction.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical building systems (power, lighting, fire alarm, life safety).
  • Strong understanding of OBC, OESC, CEC and industry standards.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and client relationship skills.
  • Strong communication to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, develop, and lead the Electrical Engineering department.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for all electrical building systems projects.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring schedules, budgets, and client expectations are met.
  • Maintain high technical standards through QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables.
  • Design and review electrical building systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, and life safety.
  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical/structural engineers, clients, and stakeholders throughout all delivery phases.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop future Electrical Engineers, Designers, and EITs as the team expands.
  • Assist with business development by building and maintaining client relationships and identifying new project opportunities.
  • Develop departmental standards, processes, and best practices to support long-term growth.
  • Conduct site visits to review construction progress and support project teams.

Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Greater Toronto Area, ON (Hybrid), KWC, and Hamilton, ON.

About The Opportunity

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Manager / Team Lead to establish and grow their Electrical Engineering department. This is a unique leadership opportunity for an entrepreneurial professional who is excited about building a team from the ground up while remaining actively involved in technical design, project delivery, and client development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, develop, and lead the Electrical Engineering department.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for all electrical building systems projects.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring schedules, budgets, and client expectations are met.
  • Maintain high technical standards through rigorous QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables.
  • Design and review electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, and life safety systems.
  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, clients, and other project stakeholders throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop future Electrical Engineers, Designers, and EITs as the team expands.
  • Assist with business development by building and maintaining strong client relationships and identifying new project opportunities.
  • Develop departmental standards, processes, and best practices to support long-term growth.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to review construction progress, resolve technical issues, and support project teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain it.
  • Minimum 10 years of Electrical Building Engineering consulting experience.
  • Proven experience leading electrical design projects from concept through construction.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, and life safety systems.
  • Strong understanding of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), and applicable industry standards.
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and client relationship skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel occasionally for site visits.
Preferred Experience
  • Extensive experience delivering electrical designs for multi‑storey residential developments, including condominiums and townhouses across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
  • Previous experience building, managing, or expanding an Electrical Engineering team.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary building engineering consulting environment.
  • Established relationships within the Ontario building development and consulting market are considered an asset.
