Job summary

Manning Park Resort in British Columbia is seeking a Lift Operator to join our Alpine Operations team for the winter season. The role involves assisting guests, loading and unloading lifts, and maintaining safety and comfort on the mountain.

This seasonal position runs November through April. Applicants should enjoy outdoor work, have strong guest service, be able to lift up to 40 lbs, and pass a lift operator exam; OFA Lv3 is an asset.

Qualifications

• Skiing or snowboarding experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for guest interactions.
• Ability to provide excellent guest service in all weather.
• On-the-job training with lift operator exam required.
• OFA Lv3 is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests with a smile and friendly comment.
• Assist guests loading or unloading from lifts and ensure safety.
• Perform safety checks as required by BC Authorities for Passenger Ropeways.
• Respond to guest inquiries and escalate to supervisor when needed.
• Notify supervisors of unsafe or unusual situations.
• Keep lift stations and loading areas clear of snow and clutter.
• Provide lift passengers with dry, de-iced seats during precipitation.
• Cross-train in other departments as seasonal demands arise.

Job description

We are presently searching for our next great team member as a Lift Operator to join our Alpine Operations team. If you can provide our guests with an amazing experience, combined with working as an energetic part of our resort, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities include: (but not limited to)

• Greeting every guest with a smile and friendly comment
• Providing physical assistance to guests loading or unloading from various lifts, including Chairlifts, T-bars, Handle Tows.
• Performing all Safety Check required by BC Authorities regarding Passenger Ropeways operations before opening.
• Listening to and assisting guests; seeking additional information from lead hand or supervisor in order to answer guest inquiries
• Notifying lead hand or supervisor in the event of unsafe, unusual, abnormal situations or incidents
• Preparing and completing documentation required by BC Safety Authority
• Controlling line-ups by directing guests to appropriate queues
• Continually shoveling snow from load/unload ramps, raking and grooming ramps
• Shoveling snow around the resort as needed
• Assisting transport with manual labor tasks; digging in winter signage
• Keeping lift stations clear of snow and ice, and keeping lift huts, tools and loading/unloading areas clear of clutter
• Providing lift passengers with dry, de-iced seats and maintaining them during periods of precipitation
• Other Duties as assigned

This is a Seasonal Position, so you must be able to commit to the role for the full Winter Season (November-April). As a seasonal team member, you may be presented with opportunities to cross train and support in other departments to meet seasonal demands.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Skiing or Snowboarding experience preferred
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to always provide excellent guest service, especially during periods of inclement weather
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and shovel snow for extended periods
• Able to work early mornings, weekends and all holidays
• Must enjoy working outdoors in varied weather conditions
• On-the-job training provided; must pass a lift operator exam
• OFA Lv3 is considered an asset.
