Job summary

Town of Saugeen Shores is seeking energetic individuals to join our Aquatics team as Lifeguard in Training. Reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor, you will assist instructors and lifeguards to ensure safe operation of all aquatic programs and facilities.

Responsibilities include pool readings, class support, equipment setup/cleanup, and supervision during activities. Must be prepared for flexible hours including evenings and weekends; Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid, and Assistant Instructor

Qualifications

  • Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid, and Assistant Instructor certifications are required.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be at least 14 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Complete required pool readings as assigned.
  • Assist the instructor with classes and demonstrations, and help with setup/cleanup of equipment.
  • Support instructors during lessons and supervise participants during pool activities.
  • Assist with special events and supervise participants.
  • Follow guard rotations and assist with pool maintenance as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

About The Role

We are searching for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Aquatics team. As the Lifeguard in Training, reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor, you will assist the Instructors/Lifeguards in ensuring service excellence and the safe operation of all aquatic programs and facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Complete required pool readings as assigned
  • Assist the instructor with the following:
    • Classes beginning/finishing on time
    • Implementing lessons
    • Demonstration of skills
    • Equipment setup and cleanup
    • Continuous evaluation of participants
  • Assist with special events as assigned
  • Follow assigned guard rotations and assist with supervision of participants
  • Assist in pool maintenance as assigned
  • Perforn other duties as required
Education/Specialized Training/Skills
  • Current awards as follows: Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid and Assistant Instructors
  • Minimum 14 years of age
  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours including evening and weekend shifts

Wage

Wage: $17.60 per hour
