The Lifeguard and Aquatic Instructor, under the direction of the Recreation Program Specialist and Aquatics Coordinator, is primarily responsible for monitoring the safety of participants located within the Town pools. This position is also responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in accordance with the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program, Lifesaving Society Leadership programs, and aquatic fitness classes.

The Successful Candidates Will Have

• Minimum of 15 years of age at the time of employment
• Must hold and maintain the following qualifications:
• National Lifeguard – Pool
• Lifesaving Society – Swim Instructor
• Lifesaving Society – Lifesaving Instructor
• Standard First Aid Certification
• CPR – Level C
• Automated External Defibrillator
• High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development (or willing to obtain)
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and at multiple locations.
• Qualifications considered assets, such as: Examiner – Bronze, National Lifeguard Instructor/Examiner, SFA Instructor/Examiner, Aquatic Supervisor Training, Instructor Trainer
• Previous experience with ActiveNET recreation software is an asset.
• Ability to work individually as well as part of a small team.

Successful candidates will be required to work the summer season, July and August. Hours of work vary and can be up to 44 hours per week. Weekend and evening work may be required.
