Diesel/Service Technician Responsibilities
  • Performs vehicle inspections, troubleshooting and testing to determine required or recommended repairs
  • Accurately diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs, including engine, mechanical and electrical systems; replace parts as required
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
  • Verify serviceability and ensure quality repairs by test driving and adjusting controls as needed
  • Keep customer vehicles clean during the repair process
  • Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options
  • Communicate with service advisor or dispatcher if additional work is needed
  • Aid service writer as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of parts
  • Maintain a clean, efficient work area and keep the shop organized
  • Document all work performed on the repair order in accordance with procedures
  • Understand automotive terminology and stay abreast of technology changes
  • Follow attendance, timekeeping and work rules; adhere to supervisor directions and confidentiality policies
  • Maintain professional appearance per policy and participate in required training and meetings
Diesel/Service Technician Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two-year related experience or equivalent combination
  • 310T Licence 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice
