Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in Alberta. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary group to deliver high-quality care in a senior living environment, maintaining resident safety and dignity while supporting families and staff.

The role involves administering medications, contributing to care plans, and mentoring Health Care Aides. A current LPN license, CPR/First Aid, and experience in residential care are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
• Current license to practice from AB College of Registered Nurses (CRNA) & College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA).
• Active CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience in a residential care or mental health environment is an asset.
• Demonstrates the skills to guide Health Care Aides and other non-professional team members.
• Therapeutic approach to the delivery of care.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong written communication skills with clear professional documents.

Responsibilities

• Participates in development of resident care/service plans under supervision of the Director of Care.
• Recommends and implements changes to resident care plans as needed.
• Maintains accurate records of resident conditions and health care requirements.
• Assists with move ins/outs, palliative care, end of life and care after death with dignity.
• Provides direct nursing care including medications, treatments, and resident education.
• Communicates with the interdisciplinary team, supervisors, doctors, residents and families.
• Evaluates nursing care effectiveness and informs the Director of Care or physician of changes.
• Directs and supports Health Care Aides in using proper procedures to ensure high care standards.
• Assists in orientation of new team members and monitors performance.
• Identifies and reports malfunctioning equipment and supply needs.
