Look no further – we're seeking someone like you to join our site float team at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH) as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)! Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient, the LPN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. The LPN participates in nursing assessment/interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatment, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient response. The LPN will also participate in quality monitoring activities and facilitates patient and family centered education and discharge planning in accordance with the established standards and the vision, values, policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services. The site float LPN will be trained across units at the Glenrose and will work within the identified scopes of practice associated with those units. The LPN will work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and practice according to the policy and procedures set out by AHS and maintain competent practice and provides care according to CLPNA regulations. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications

Successful completion of CLPNA modules – Standards of Practice on Restricted Activities and Advanced Practice as well as certifications in required competencies. Basic keyboarding/computer skills required. Excellent communication skills required. The ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities is essential. The candidate must be able to work well independently and within a team. Demonstrates critical thinking skills within scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision‑making ability. The successful incumbent will be capable of performing lifts, transfers, repositioning, and other physically demanding activities associated with this role, of at least 50 lbs. regularly.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working within the CoACT framework and Connect Care is preferred. It’s Your Move training is an asset. IV Therapy and PICC certifications are preferred. Experience in acute care and rehabilitation are also preferred. For candidates who hold another job line and would be looking to supplement this as an additional casual line, it is ideal that they have .40 FTE available capacity so that they can meet the scheduling requirements for this team's orientation and training.
