Job Description: Licensed Practical Nurse

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. The continuous improvement of quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Under the supervision of the Manager or designate and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides care to complex but stable residents/clients. Responsibilities include performing assessments, planning and delivering personal care, and executing nursing procedures. The LPN operates within the competency guidelines and full scope of practice as defined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, adhering to agency policies, standards, and unit-specific protocols.

Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
• For MHSU positions, additional education as required by BCCNM for practice involving primary diagnosis of Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.

• Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
