Job summary

Covenant Care in Alberta seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to oversee daily resident care under the Resident Care Manager. You will lead a cohesive care team, applying nursing assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation to meet evolving resident needs with compassion.

Will collaborate with others to ensure quality care, support residents and their families at end-of-life journeys, and uphold the organization’s mission and values in every interaction.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse Program required.
• Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required.
• Current CPR / First Aid Certification / Equivalency required.
• Ability to speak French an asset.
• Dementia education an asset.
• Strong critical assessment skills.
• Exhibits respect and compassion for everyone equally and listens actively.
• Ability to work in a continuing care setting and manage changing resident needs.
• Vaccination against required communicable diseases per OHS policy.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Resident Care Manager (RCM), the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team. The LPN works cohesively with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process (Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) is individualized and ongoing, such that changing needs of residents are addressed and met.

In accordance with Covenant Care’s mission, vision, and values, this position is responsible for ensuring that residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures. Provides support to residents, their family and visitors during the resident’s end of life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality.
