Job summary

Covenant Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for Unit 43, Palliative Care Unit at Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton. The LPN will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic, safe, quality care to patients and families, and may lead the team within scope of practice.

Regular part-time position with a 0.70 FTE, posting ends 21-SEP-2026 and available 31-OCT-2026. Must have active CLHA registration and BLS (Level C).

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required.
• Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA) required.
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
• Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills are required.
• Excellent assessment skills are required.
• Recent experience in a tertiary palliative care unit or palliative care setting is preferred.

The LPN provides safe care to patients diagnosed with a life limiting illness. This is an interdisciplinary, active treatment unit for patients who have complex physical and psychosocial needs that often require intensive support. Family and friends are considered to be part of the unit of care as they too can require significant support. Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. Preferred Qualifications
