Job summary

Sofina Foods Inc. is seeking a licensed Millwright (433A) to join our maintenance team at a meat processing facility in Burlington for the midnight shift (Sun–Thu, 11:00 pm–7:30 am).

You will maintain and repair processing and packaging equipment, ensuring plant performance, product quality and food safety. The ideal candidate has a 433A license, at least 2 years in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, own tools, and the ability to work in refrigerated conditions.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Millwright 433A license.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, refrigerated environments.
• Must supply own set of tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on processing and packaging equipment.
• Inspect machinery for wear, damage, and operation issues.
• Lubricate, adjust, align, and replace components as required.
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and equipment breakdowns.
• Repair or replace bearings, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, chains, and hydraulic/pneumatic parts.
• Respond to emergencies to minimise downtime.
• Read blueprints and schematics; assemble and align machinery.

We are currently recruiting for the midnight shift, Sunday to Thursday from 11pm-730am.

Position Summary

We are seeking a licensed Millwright (433A) to join our maintenance team in a meat processing/slaughter facility (pork products). The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of processing and production equipment, ensuring optimal plant performance, product quality, and workplace safety. This position requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, and the ability to work effectively in a refrigerated food production setting.

Key Accountabilities

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on processing and packaging equipment
• Inspect machinery for wear, damage, and operational issues
• Lubricate, adjust, align, and replace machine components as required
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation
• Diagnose mechanical failures and equipment breakdowns
• Repair or replace bearings, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, chains, sprockets, hydraulic and pneumatic components
• Respond to emergency breakdowns to minimize production downtime
• Analyze recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective actions
• Install new production, refrigeration, and packaging equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Assemble and align machinery and production systems
• Perform equipment upgrades and modifications to improve performance and reliability
• Maintain conveyor systems used for carcass movement
• Service slaughter and processing equipment, including hoists, saws, dehiders, and cutting systems
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems throughout the facility
• Support maintenance of refrigeration and material handling systems
• Ability to TIG Weld proficiently
• Ensure all food-processing equipment remains in good working condition and suitable for sanitation requirements
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities
• Comply with Health and Safety regulations and company safety policies
• Maintain equipment guards and safety devices
• Work in accordance with food safety standards such as HACCP and CFIA requirements
• Participate in safety inspections and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Must have a valid Millwright 433a License
• Minimum 2 years’ experience
• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Work in hot, cold, wet, humid, and refrigerated environments
• Lift and move heavy equipment and components up to 50lbs
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, or on elevated platforms when required
• Strong communication skills
• Must have own set of tools
