Responsibilities

• Provide a visible security presence and patrol all floors during operating hours.
• Control access at library entrances, operate metal detection gates, and greet visitors.
• Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control; respond to incidents.
• Collaborate with library staff and crisis workers to maintain safety.
• Assist the public with information and directions professionally.
• Follow opening/closing procedures and secure doors, elevators, and rooms.
• Maintain visitor/contractor lists, logs, and reports of unusual occurrences.
• Address incidents, provide first aid, and coordinate with emergency teams.
• Write incident reports and communicate security concerns.
• Answer questions in person or by phone.

• Provide a visible security presence and patrol all floors during operational hours.

• Monitor security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control) and respond to incidents.
• Collaborate with library staff, Community Safety Hosts, and Crisis Workers to maintain a safe environment.
• Assist the public with information and directions in a professional manner.
• Follow opening/closing procedures, including securing doors, elevators, and rooms.
• Maintain visitor/contractor lists, logs, and reports of unusual occurrences
• Address incidents, provide first aid, and coordinate with emergency teams
• Write incident reports and communicate security concerns
• Answer questions in person or by phone

Qualifications for Library Surveillance Security Guard

• Be authorized to work in Canada
• Hold a valid Manitoba security license
• First aid certification an asset
