Job summary

GardaWorld is hiring a Library Surveillance Security Guard in Winnipeg, Manitoba. You will provide security presence, assist visitors, and ensure a safe environment in a busy library setting.

The role emphasizes customer service and clear communication in English, with opportunities for ongoing training through GardaWorld Academy and a permanent, schedule-flexible, part-time or full-time arrangement depending on shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
• Hold a valid Manitoba security license.
• First aid certification an asset.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Proficient in basic phone & computer skills.
• Strong communication in English.
• Ability to remain calm in emergencies.
• Physically and mentally fit for duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide a visible security presence and patrol all library floors during operational hours.
• Control access at library entrances, operate metal detection gates, and greet visitors.
• Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems and respond to incidents.
• Coordinate with library staff and Crisis Workers to maintain a safe environment.
• Assist the public with information and directions in a professional manner.
• Follow opening/closing procedures and secure doors, elevators, and rooms.
• Maintain visitor and contractor logs and incident reports.
• Write incident reports and communicate security concerns.
• Answer questions in person or by phone.

Responsibilities For Library Surveillance Security Guard

• Provide a visible security presence and patrol all floors during operational hours.
• Control access at library entrances, operate metal detection gates, and welcome visitors.
• Monitor security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control) and respond to incidents.
• Collaborate with library staff, Community Safety Hosts, and Crisis Workers to maintain a safe environment.
• Assist the public with information and directions in a professional manner.
• Follow opening/closing procedures, including securing doors, elevators, and rooms.
• Maintain visitor/contractor lists, logs, and reports of unusual occurrences
• Address incidents, provide first aid, and coordinate with emergency teams
• Write incident reports and communicate security concerns
• Answer questions in person or by phone

Qualifications For Library Surveillance Security Guard
