Cape Breton Regional Library is seeking a part-time Library Clerk for Reserve Mines Library to deliver friendly service, assist patrons, and support programs daily. The role involves community outreach with schools and groups and helps create a welcoming branch environment.
The Reserve Mines Library requires a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication, and comfort with technology. Shifts include days, evenings, and Saturdays, with a 22.5 hour work week.

Hourly Rate: $18.86/Hr
Hours of work: (22.5 hours per week)
The schedule includes days, evenings, and Saturdays. Please note that while there is a set schedule, shifts may change depending on branch needs.
Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (7 hours)
Thursday: 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (5.5 hours)
Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (7 hours)
Saturday: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (3 hours)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded individual to join the Reserve Mines Library, a small branch where the successful candidate will work independently and play an important role in creating a welcoming and engaging library experience.
This position is well suited to someone who is passionate about literacy, lifelong learning, and connecting people with library services. The Reserve Mines Library is located within walking distance of an elementary school and close to local daycares, creating opportunities to build relationships with educators, children, families, and community groups.
The successful candidate will be comfortable reaching out to schools, daycares, and community organizations to promote library services, encourage visits to the branch, and identify opportunities for small-scale programs and partnerships. This may include welcoming school or daycare visits and offering simple, engaging activities such as storytimes, book clubs, creative activities, or other programs suited to the size and space of the branch.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes initiative, and can help make the Reserve Mines Library a welcoming and active community space.
This position involves working independently in a small library branch and interacting with members of the public throughout the day.
Working conditions include lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and carrying books and other library materials.
