Job summary

Canada Post is seeking temporary on-call delivery agents to join our Courtenay team. You’ll start by sorting mail at the depot, load the vehicle, and then deliver mail and parcels along your route by foot or vehicle.

You’ll finish by returning to the depot to unload for the next day. Ideal candidates enjoy outdoor work year-round, can meet weight-lift requirements, and have a valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years.
• The physical ability to lift up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) and carry up to 35 lb (15.9 kg) regularly.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and be on-call.

Responsibilities

• Sort and prepare daily deliveries at the depot and load the postal vehicle.
• Deliver mail and parcels on foot or by vehicle to customers on the route.
• Return to the depot to unload incoming mail and packages for the next day.

Job Responsibilities

What will you do?

• You’ll start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
• You’ll load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle

Qualifications

What must you have?

• A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
• The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
• The ability to work in all types of weather
• The availability to be on-call
• The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French
