Job summary

Canada Post is hiring a temporary, on-call Delivery Agent in Lethbridge, Alberta. You will sort, load and deliver mail and parcels, often by foot or vehicle, starting from the depot and ending back at the depot.

Must be physically able to walk long distances and lift loads, with an on-call schedule and potential for permanent employment. Candidates need a valid Class 5 or G driver’s licence, ability to work in all weather, and English and/or French language skills.

Qualifications

• A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
• The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
• The physical ability to walk approximately 25 kilometres daily in various weather conditions
• The ability to work in all types of weather
• The availability to be on-call
• The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French

Responsibilities

• Start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
• Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle
• Deliver mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on your route
• Return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery

Other Information

This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to walk approximately 25 kilometres daily in various weather conditions, while carrying a mail satchel weighing up to 35lbs.

Please note this is an On-Call position and hours worked can vary and may extend beyond 4:00pm incurring overtime hours to complete a mail route.

Successful candidates must attend 3 weeks of training Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm.
