How You’ll Help Us Better Serve Our Clients

Clark Wilson LLP is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to join our growing Infrastructure, Construction and Procurement practice group. This is a full-time, permanent position that is ideal for anyone looking to join a firm that takes pride in fostering a collegial working atmosphere where growth and professional development are supported.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • coordinating and booking trials, discoveries, chambers applications and mediations;
  • communicating with clients, experts, opposing counsel, the court and court reporters;
  • obtaining and interpreting online searches (court registry, corporate, land title, personal property);
  • preparing for court applications, examinations for discovery, mediation and trial (including summary trial);
  • drafting, preparing, editing and formatting various legal documents including pleadings, builders’ lien claims, affidavits and correspondence;
  • liaising with legal administrative assistants, paralegals, other lawyers and clients on file progress;
  • maintaining efficient file management and bring-forward system, including monitoring deadlines and limitation dates;
  • maintaining a full calendar, email management and managing lawyers’ practice;
  • assisting with monthly billing; and
  • general administrative duties as required.

How You’ll Be a Great Fit For This Role

  • graduate of an accredited legal assistant program or relevant experience;
  • at least 3 years of recent experience working as a legal assistant in litigation, primarily in the areas of construction, commercial litigation, and insurance defence an asset;
  • solid understanding of BC Supreme Court rules, practices and procedures;
  • strong analytical and writing skills;
  • strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, BC Online and myLTSA;
  • self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills;
  • excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail;
  • the ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks and competing priorities;
  • a client-centered approach with a commitment to providing outstanding service;
  • the ability to follow instructions and adhere to strict deadlines; and
  • the ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality and to adapt to changing demands.
