Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience as a litigation LAA, ideally in commercial litigation.
  • Graduate of an accredited LAA program; paralegal certification is a plus.

Job description

McEwan Partners is a leading boutique litigation firm in Downtown Vancouver founded by a group of industry-recognized litigators. Our practice is primarily in commercial, securities and public law, at trial and appellate levels.

We are currently looking for a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) to join our firm. The position provides an opportunity to work with a vibrant, hard-working team of professionals in a collegial environment. The successful candidates will be a team-player, energetic, flexible, highly motivated, and enjoy the variety of work that comes with the small firm model.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform legal assistant/paralegal duties in various areas of law for all levels of courts;
  2. Prepare correspondence and documents ensuring compliance with Rules of Court;
  3. Conduct file management, including preparing and maintaining binders/documents and filing as needed;
  4. Maintain a well-organized work environment and implement efficient processes that minimize lawyers’ administrative load, including an active bring forward system;
  5. Coordinating bookings for meetings, mediations, discoveries, and hearings;
  6. Other duties/responsibilities as delegated.
Skills
  1. A thorough understanding of litigation legal procedures at different levels of court;
  2. Critical thinking skills, a high level of initiative, and a proactive approach to problem solving;
  3. Proven ability to prioritize multiple assignments, produce quality accurate work, and meet deadlines;
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work collaboratively and support a team environment;
  5. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal;
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information;
  7. A strong orientation to delivering a high-level standard of service;
  8. Superior organizational/document management skills with a strong attention to detail;
  9. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment with competing demands;
  10. Advanced technical skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe, Soluno and iManage;
  11. Experience with e-discovery software, preferably Everlaw is an asset.
Qualifications
  1. Graduate of an accredited LAA program. Paralegal certification from an accredited program is an asset;
  2. A minimum of 4 years experience as a litigation LAA. Experience in commercial litigation is an asset.
Compensation
  1. McEwan Partners offers a competitive compensation and benefits package as well as a diverse and supportive work environment;
  2. The base annual salary range for candidates with the required experience is $70,000 to $85,000.
