Job summary

BitGo, Inc. in Toronto is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and evolve our ledger systems behind client balances, trading positions, and financial reporting.

You’ll work at the intersection of software engineering and accounting, implementing double-entry ledger primitives and ensuring financial correctness from day one. You’ll own the chart-of-accounts and reporting surface, partner with Finance, Data Engineering, and Product, and design scalable data models to support new products

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of accounting fundamentals: double-entry bookkeeping, P&L, balance sheet.
• 5+ years of backend software engineering with data-model ownership.
• Strong instincts for extensible system design — schemas and APIs that scale.
• Ability to critique designs across multiple systems and work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Design and extend the core ledger — accounts, postings, and ledger structures.
• Own the chart-of-accounts and reporting surface for financial statements.
• Balance verification, reconciliation, and proof-of-reserve style mechanisms.
• Collaborate early with Finance, Data Engineering, and Product on design.
• Design scalable data models for new financial products with clean migrations.
