Job summary

aadgaa Naay Elementary School in British Columbia seeks a Learning Support Teacher to provide temporary full-time educational programming for diverse learners. The role focuses on designing, instructing and evaluating customized student plans, and collaborating with the learning services and administrative team.

You will develop IEPs and Behavior Plans, support inclusive classrooms and work with staff, parents and the community to close equity gaps and support student growth.

Qualifications

• University teaching major or its equivalent related to the teaching position.
• Understanding and committed to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, including equity gaps for specific groups of children.
• Completion of Level B Assessment Training course or willingness to obtain.
• High level of classroom management skills and ability to foster a positive classroom climate.
• Experience with multi-grade classes is an asset.
• Ability to plan, organize, instruct and evaluate learning activities for students' strengths and needs.
• Primary responsibility for designing, instructing, assessing and evaluating educational programming for assigned students.
• Collaborate with learning services and admin to develop and implement IEPs and Behavior Plans.
• Knowledge of school-based teams.
• Prepared to create inclusive learning environments where students are connected, supported, engaged and challenged.
• Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work with students, teachers, aides, parents and admins.
• Understanding of local resources and environment.
• Teacher Regulation Branch certification.

Responsibilities

• Design, instruct, assess and evaluate educational programming for all assigned students.
• Work with learning services and administrative team to develop and implement IEPs and Behavior Plans.
• Plan, organize and evaluate learning activities tailored to students' academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments.

An employment opportunity exists for a

LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER

A temporary full-time (1.0 FTE) Learning Support Teacher effective as soon as possible to June 30, 2027 at Sḵ aadgaa Naay Elementary School.

Requirements

• A university teaching major, or its equivalent, directly related to the teaching position;
• Understanding and being committed to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, including the eradication of existing and persistent equity gaps for specific groups of children;
• Completion of Level B Assessment Training course or willingness to obtain;
• High level of skills related to successful classroom management, and to the development and maintenance of a positive classroom climate;
• Experience with multi-grade classes an asset;
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, instruct and evaluate learning activities for students' strengths and for their academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs;
• Assume primary responsibility for designing, instructing, assessing, and evaluating the educational programming of all assigned students;
• Working with the learning services and administrative team to collaboratively develop and implement Individual Education Plans and Behavior Plans;
• Knowledge of school-based teams;
• Be prepared to provide support in creating inclusive learning environments where students are connected, supported, engaged and challenged;
• Proven interpersonal skills, work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, education assistants, parents and administrators;
• Understanding of local resources and environment;
• Teacher Regulation Branch certification.

Benefits and Salary

• Competitive Salary: $75,415 - $120,222 per annum
• Remote and Rural Allowance: $3,500 per annum
• Travel Allowance: $1,206 per annum
• Up to $2,000 relocation allowance upon submission of receipts
