Job summary

Christ the King Elementary School in Whitehorse, Yukon, seeks a Learning Assistant Teacher to support numeracy instruction and manage student educational plans. Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent required.
  • Masters level coursework in numeracy instruction and/or special education is preferred.
  • Leadership experience in numeracy instruction is expected.
  • Experience identifying, implementing, and assessing targeted strength-based numeracy interventions.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and revising IEPs/SSPs.
  • Experience using First Peoples Ways of Knowing, Doing and Being to support students.
  • Training in trauma-responsive educational practices is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction and assessment to support staff with numeracy.
  • Perform case management and support for students with educational plans.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to support student success.
  • Incorporate First Nations perspectives and trauma-informed practices into instructional planning.
