Job summary

Rocky View Schools is hiring three continuing, full-time Learning Assistant positions at Springbank Middle School, starting immediately. You’ll support diverse learners in grades 5-8, collaborating with teachers to adapt programs for students with complex needs and promoting health, independence and inclusion.

Ideal candidates hold an Educational Assistant Certificate or related diploma, with training in behaviour support and CPR/First Aid being assets.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or related field diploma.
• Training in preventative/de-escalating behaviour or willingness to certify.
• Minimum one year experience with students with challenging behavior.
• CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to certify.
• WES/IQAS evaluation documents for education outside Canada may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students per individualized plans, including personal, medical care, lifts and safety.
• Implement strategies directed by teachers and student plans.
• Record observations and data on behavioral challenges to guide supports.
• Participate in collaborative planning meetings for student planning.
• Prepare individualized program materials under teacher direction.
• Promote student learning, belonging and independence.
• Support emotional/behavioral regulation and confidentiality.
• Assist with routine personal care activities and daily living tasks.
• Assist in mobility, transfers, feeding and related activities as directed.
