Job summary

General Motors Canada is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support service and production operations by applying lean manufacturing principles, analyzing throughput and material movement, and developing standardized work for future products to drive performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Industrial Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial engineering and proficiency in lean manufacturing techniques.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Factory CAD or equivalent; MS Office tools (Excel, Access, Project, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify and implement process improvements.
• Familiarity with automotive manufacturing regulations and standards.
• Experience with Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other non-value-adding resources.
• Develop, recommend, and implement changes to improve manufacturing processes or product quality.
• Develop and analyze Manufacturing Master Schedules to monitor progress and identify performance issues.
• Apply critical path methodology in network development, analysis and problem resolution.
• Optimize sequence of operations and material flow; amend layouts as required.
• Create metrics to monitor schedule progress and identify risk areas.
• Drive efficiencies through waste elimination and process improvements.
• Perform data analysis to establish shop metrics and tackle complex problems.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and maintenance teams.
