Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto is seeking a Pharmacy Inventory Operations Leader to oversee daily inventory across sites, driving procurement, storage and access to medications. Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

As an integral member of Pharmacy Inventory Services, the Operations Leaderis responsible for assisting the Inventory Manager in managing responsibility for daily inventory operations at all UHN sites. The Operations Leaderwill facilitate program development, and quality improvement activities within the department, while exemplifying UHN’s values of caring, excellence, teamwork, innovation, integrity, leadership, and respect.

This is a dynamic and exciting position for a pharmacist, who will have a chance to work closely with a wide range of multidisciplinary healthcare leaders at UHN across all sitesand have oversight of inventory operations with direct reports, working together to provide exemplary care for patients. We’re seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and motivated pharmacist to join our leadership team as the pharmacy inventory operations leader and play a vital role in optimizing our supply chain operations, our commitment to innovation, patient care, and inventory operational excellence.

The pharmacy inventory operations leader will assist in the management of drug shortages, procurement, storage, and management of pharmaceutical inventory to ensure our pharmacy operates efficiently and complies with all regulatory standards. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to analyze trends to maintain optimal stock levels while reducing waste and ensuring the availability of essential medications

Duties

• Supporting thePharmacy Site Operations Manager with all aspects of operations related to pharmacy
• Implementing pharmacy inventory projects and coordinating staff training in operations
• Provide direct and/or functional supervision of staff including human resources management
• Maintaining Policies and Procedures for new system upgrades
• Providing expertise in pharmacy inventory contractual obligations to maximize efficiency of the hospital’s drug procurement and distribution system
• Will be involved in various committees; Pharmacy Quality, Formulary, All-site operations meetings and Safe Medication Practice
• Performing other cross-functional duties consistent with the job classification as assigned

Qualifications

• Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from a recognized program required
• Certificate of competency from the pharmacy Examination Board of Canada required
• Active Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
• At minimum 4-5years practical pharmacy experience and related leadershipexperience required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to manage heavy workload with frequent changes
• Ability to plan and coordinate variousprojects and programs
• Knowledge of Workspace Hazardous Material Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) requirements, Body Substance Precautions, confidentiality
• Knowledge of Accounting process
• Completion of an advanced degree (Masters or equivalent) or Doctor of Pharmacy degree highly preferred
• Pharmacy experience in a hospital setting preferred
• Pharmacy Residency an asset
• Membership in the Ontario Pharmacists' Association,Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists and/or other professional societies an asset
