Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Senior Test Specialist (Mechanical or Electrical) to join our defence-focused team on a permanent basis in Canada. You will lead testing, acceptance, and maintenance of Victoria Class Submarine systems, coordinate multidisciplinary teams as Test Director, and diagnose faults to ensure system readiness and reliability.

The role requires post-secondary education in engineering technology or related fields, eligibility for Canadian professional designations, and security

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in electrical engineering technology or a related field.
• Eligibility for AScT, CET, EIT, or P.Eng designation in BC and/or Nova Scotia.
• Experience in marine, naval, submarine, or offshore oil and gas operations is an asset.
• Hands-on experience operating, testing, or commissioning mechanical systems is an asset.
• Ability to work safely in physically demanding environments, including ladders, heights, and water.
• Strong communication skills; written, verbal, and interpersonal; proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out testing, acceptance, and maintenance of Victoria Class Submarine (VCS) systems and equipment.
• Acting as Test Director, coordinating multidisciplinary teams in the execution of complex submarine testing activities.
• Diagnosing faults, troubleshooting issues, and performing corrective maintenance to ensure system readiness and reliability.
• Providing technical leadership and oversight to Test Specialists executing test procedures.
• Resolving complex technical issues and communicating risks, solutions, and impacts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Leading small- to medium-sized teams and collaborating within a broader technical organisation to deliver programme objectives.
• Providing mentorship or guidance for other Test Specialists.
• Recording defects using company IT and Government controlled systems.
