Job summary

Renfrew County Catholic District School Board in Pembroke, ON is seeking a full-time caretaker supervisor to lead custodial staff and ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety across our schools.

You will supervise, train and schedule staff, coordinate with Plant Services, and maintain building systems while ensuring compliance with WHMIS and safety rules. Ontario diploma and 5+ years’ related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma required.
• Five+ years of custodial/maintenance/cleaning/related experience in commercial/institutional settings.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to direct teams.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of building/fire codes and OHSA; WHMIS; PPE use.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and monitor staff work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, teachers, students and contractors.
• Proven ability to write text, create online work orders, and prepare reports; comfortable with basic measurements.
• Strong computer skills and data entry; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and coordinate a custodial team to meet Board cleanliness standards.
• Schedule staff for events and daily operations.
• Maintain and repair custodial equipment; log work orders in EBASE.
• Monitor building systems: heating, cooling, ventilation, water and septics.
• Ensure WHMIS compliance and safe chemical handling.
• Coordinate with Plant Services staff and contractors as needed.
• Conduct daily briefings and weekly staff meetings.
• Prepare monthly and annual maintenance records and reports.
• Assist with safety drills and building inspections.
• Support site emergencies and liaise with Principal/Designate.
