Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the mechanical and piping packages for mining and industrial EPCM projects across Canada.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through detailed design, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-performing systems. You will apply codes (ASME B31.3/4/8, ASME VIII, API, TEMA) and lead technical evaluations, with a focus on asset reliability and lifecycle cost in a heavy-industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
• Master's degree is an asset for advanced roles.
• P.Eng. eligibility in Canada is preferred or required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Lead as technical expert for mechanical and piping packages across mining/industrial projects.
• Review piping layouts, isometrics, BOMs and fabrication deliverables for accuracy and constructability.
• Direct design of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, chutes and conveyors with cross-discipline collaboration.
• Prepare and review mechanical calculations (thickness, reinforcement, external pressure).
• Develop and maintain project piping/material specs and equipment datasheets.
• Prepare RFQs and lead evaluations with procurement.
• Address design issues with engineering, procurement and construction partners to stay on schedule and budget.
• Develop ITPs and oversee hydrostatic testing and NDT requirements.
