Job summary

Park Place Seniors Living in Edmonton is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse in a supervisory role to assess, monitor, implement, evaluate and document resident care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. The LPN collaborates to improve resident and family satisfaction, adheres to CLPNA and CCP requirements, and maintains current registration and nursing protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Current Registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta.
• Certified for administration of oral medications, narcotics, and subcutaneous injections.
• Completion of Physical Assessment Course.
• Intramuscular injection course and CPR certification preferred.
• RAI/MDS COMPETENCY IS REQUIRED

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, implement, evaluate, and document Resident care.
• Responsible for Resident admissions and discharges.
• Communicates with Residents, families, and staff.
• Reports changes in Resident status to RN.
• Prepare and administer all medications including narcotics via oral, subcutaneous, transdermal, vaginal, rectal, IM with certification, G-tube, inhalations, Sublingual, eye/ear drops.
• Prepare and administer insulins with double checks.
• May administer heparin or adrenalin with double checks.
• Administer PRN medications including narcotics and standing orders.
• Independently initiate standing protocols for bowel care.
• Check and sign drug deliveries from Pharmacy.
• Supervise and ensure competent care is provided by team members.
• Assist with Fire, Safety and OH&S regulations.
• Performs other related duties as required.
