Job summary

Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc is seeking a Senior Planner to lead land use planning, policy review, and development initiatives in Kamloops. This role emphasizes Indigenous community planning, stakeholder engagement, GIS support, and collaboration across departments to advance sustainability and reconciliation goals.

The Senior Planner will guide projects, supervise consultants, and present to Chief and Council, contributing to a resilient, low-carbon future for TteS and its members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Community Planning; master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 7–10 years of professional planning experience.
• Project management experience; PMP designation is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead land use planning, master plans, housing strategies, and facility plans.
• Review land use, subdivision, rezoning, and development applications for compliance.
• Manage capital and planning projects, including budgets and timelines.
• Engage with community members through public meetings and workshops.
• Support GIS mapping and spatial analysis to inform planning efforts.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership and committees.
