Hatch in Winnipeg, MB seeks an experienced Substation Lead to direct design and execution of high voltage substations (4.16kV to 500kV). You will mentor engineers, coordinate cross-discipline teams, and ensure design compliance with industry standards. Eligible candidates hold a Canadian P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• Canadian P.Eng. license is required.
• 10+ years in transmission and distribution substation design.
• Experience with ETAP, WinIGS/CDEGS, and IEEE 3000 series.
• Knowledge of CSA/CEC/IEEE/NERC standards and regulations.
• Experience with EPC/EPCM/OE or utility capital projects.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or Bentley Substation.

Responsibilities

• Own technical scope, quality, schedule, and delivery of substation projects.
• Train, coach, and mentor junior engineers and designers.
• Deliver accurate designs for 4.16kV–500kV substations.
• Design general arrangement, equipment, grounding, and BOM.
• Perform SME reviews and provide technical support.
• Coordinate with protection & controls, civil, telecoms, SCADA, and construction teams.
• Lead as Engineer of Record when required.
• Prepare construction drawings and review submittals.
• Support business development: proposals, scope, estimating, client interviews.
• Travel to client sites as necessary.
