Lead Estimator - Building Automations & Security Systems

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Estimator to join our team. This role is crucial for estimating costs related to building automation systems, security systems (including CCTV), construction cabling, and infrastructure projects. As the Lead Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately counting devices, evaluating project requirements, and providing precise estimates in terms of dollar value. You will work closely with our project management and engineering teams to ensure that all estimations align with the company’s goals and standards. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work with a variety of systems and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Review and analyze project documents, including blueprints, specifications, and scope of work, to create accurate estimates for building automation, security systems, CCTV, cabling, and infrastructure projects.
  2. Count and assess devices and components required for each project and provide a detailed estimation of costs.
  3. Develop comprehensive and detailed cost estimates based on labor, materials, equipment, and other project requirements.
  4. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to ensure accurate and feasible estimations.
  5. Maintain knowledge of current construction and security technologies, market pricing trends, and industry best practices to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
  6. Prepare estimates in PDF format and present them in a clear, organized manner.
  7. Provide support in project budgeting and cost tracking throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  8. Ensure estimates are delivered on time and are within company budget guidelines.
  9. Assist in procurement by identifying required materials and equipment, and working with vendors for pricing.
Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as an estimator, preferably in building automation, security systems, CCTV, construction cabling, and infrastructure projects.
  2. Strong knowledge of construction processes, systems, and materials related to building automation and security technologies.
  3. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to assess project requirements and provide accurate cost estimates.
  4. Ability to work with various software tools to create detailed estimates, including proficiency in PDF form and other industry-standard tools.
  5. Strong communication skills to present estimates and work with project teams.
  6. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  7. Solid understanding of cost management principles, budgeting, and procurement.
  8. A background in construction, electrical systems, or related fields is preferred.
