Job summary

TalentSphere partners with a well-established Toronto engineering firm to recruit an Electrical Engineering Project Lead. The role involves owning electrical design across building projects, coordinating with architects, and guiding projects from concept through construction.

You will work with senior engineers, contribute to client communications, and pursue professional development in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment in a hybrid Toronto setting.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of professional experience in electrical engineering/design within the Canadian building consulting industry.
• Experience with building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• EIT or P.Eng. designation in Ontario, or eligibility for registration.
• Electrical designers with strong consulting experience will also be considered.
• Experience preparing detailed design drawings and tender packages.
• Exposure to feasibility studies, budget estimates, shop drawing reviews, commissioning, and/or condition assessments.
• Strong understanding of building construction and electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and Ontario Building Code (OBC).
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of your responsibilities.
• An interest in continuing to develop toward project leadership and senior-level responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical engineering and design components of building projects.
• Take ownership of project delivery, including design, coordination, documentation, and construction administration.
• Work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Participate in project management, contract administration, site visits, and field reviews.
• Build strong relationships with clients and serve as a trusted technical resource throughout project delivery.
• Participate in business development initiatives alongside Associates and senior leadership.
• Assist with fee proposals, project scopes, and client presentations.
• Assess existing electrical systems and prepare condition assessment reports.
• Provide technical advisory services and engineering recommendations to clients.
• Design and coordinate electrical building systems including: Power distribution, Lighting, Emergency power, Fire alarm, Low-voltage systems, Building electrical infrastructure.
• Prepare electrical load calculations and engineering analysis.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, tender packages, and technical reports.
• Review shop drawings and provide technical support throughout construction.
• Participate in internal technical reviews and quality assurance processes.
• Continue developing your technical and project leadership capabilities with mentorship from experienced senior engineers.
