Lead Domain Business Analyst

Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Lead Domain Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business and technology within a sophisticated investment management environment. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong business analysis capabilities with deep knowledge of capital markets, investment operations, and investment data.

You will partner with business stakeholders, technology teams, and delivery partners to translate complex operational and investment requirements into scalable technology solutions. The successful candidate understands how investment organizations operate across front‑office, middle‑office, and operational functions and can effectively navigate conversations with both business and technical audiences.

You are a naturally curious problem solver who enjoys understanding how businesses operate and identifying opportunities to improve processes through technology. You are comfortable discussing investment workflows with business stakeholders while also working closely with technology teams to define requirements and drive delivery.

You possess strong analytical skills, a deep appreciation for data quality and controls, and the ability to anticipate downstream impacts when designing solutions. You are often the person others rely on to clarify ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and ensure business needs are accurately represented throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements.
• Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to understand business processes and operational challenges.
• Translate business needs into functional requirements, user stories, process flows, and solution documentation.
• Support initiatives related to investment operations, investment data, reporting, and technology modernization.
• Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and control enhancements.
• Collaborate with technology teams throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure solutions meet business objectives.
• Support data analysis, data quality initiatives, and reconciliation of business requirements across multiple systems.
• Coordinate and support user acceptance testing activities.
• Work closely with stakeholders across front office, middle office, operations, and technology teams.
• Identify risks, dependencies, and potential impacts associated with proposed solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practices in business analysis and delivery.

Core Skills

• 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Senior Business Analyst, Domain Analyst, or related role.
• Strong understanding of Capital Markets, Asset Management, Investment Management, or Financial Services environments.
• Knowledge of investment operations, trade lifecycle processes, portfolio accounting concepts, and investment reporting.
• Knowledge of fixed income, credit investments, alternative investments, or private markets.
• Experience supporting investment management platforms and related ecosystems.
• Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
• Strong process mapping, workflow analysis, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience supporting Agile delivery methodologies.
• Advanced analytical and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working across business and technology teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Nice‑to‑Have

• SQL, Power BI, Python, or data analytics experience.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar delivery tools.
• Exposure to cloud‑based data platforms and enterprise data initiatives.
• Experience supporting large‑scale transformation or modernization programs.
• Progress toward CFA, CBAP, PMP, or similar professional certifications.
• Familiarity with AI‑enabled analysis and productivity tools.
