Morgan Stanley in Montreal, QC is seeking a Senior Data Engineering Specialist to join the TEDRA team. You will build data platforms and analytics solutions processing billions of trade events daily to power latency monitoring and reporting across Institutional Securities Technology.

The Lead Data & Analytics Engineering role focuses on scalable pipelines, data models, and modern data processing, leveraging Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, and Kafka.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience designing and supporting large-scale data engineering platforms.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, or Perl with emphasis on automation.
• Strong SQL and data modelling, with performance tuning expertise.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, SingleStore, Spark, or comparable ecosystems.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives and platform modernization.
• Experience with Linux-based distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable data engineering solutions supporting mission-critical trade reporting, trade monitoring, and analytics platforms.
• Build and maintain high-performance database systems and data pipelines that process terabytes of data and tens of billions of records daily.
• Develop software solutions using Python, Java, C++, Perl, or similar technologies to automate data processing, workflows, and platform management.
• Build and optimize large-scale distributed data platforms using Snowflake, Databricks, SingleStore, Apache Spark, and related analytics ecosystems.
• Design data models, implement complex SQL solutions, and drive performance tuning for analytical workloads.
• Lead technical planning and execution of platform migrations, database upgrades, capacity planning, and modernization projects.
• Promote engineering excellence by modernizing stacks, improving architecture, and advocating best practices in data engineering, automation, observability, and resiliency.
• Influence technical direction across platforms by building consensus among stakeholders and guiding teams through transformations.
• Support real-time and event-driven architectures using Kafka and related messaging technologies for low-latency processing and analytics.
