Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Java Tech Lead in Montreal to drive SRD platforms supporting Index and ETF data mastering, distribution, and modernization. You will lead development of scalable Java- and Python-based services, manage instrument hierarchies and data changes, and collaborate with global teams to deliver resilient services.

The role is located in Montreal with a hybrid work model, requiring French and English fluency and deep expertise in financial reference data and modern data

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience, preferably in Financial Services.
• Experience in Java and/or Python development within enterprise-scale applications.
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices architectures, and Kafka.
• Experience with MongoDB, Linux environments, JSON, and XML schemas.
• Understanding of reference data concepts and financial instruments (Indexes, ETFs).
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle and collaborating with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance SRD applications focusing on Index and ETF data.
• Build and maintain Java- and Python-based services for reference data workflows.
• Manage instrument hierarchies, identifier mappings, and vendor data changes.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions with stakeholders.
• Deliver end-to-end enhancements, production changes, and strategic initiatives.
• Ensure data quality, timeliness, lineage, and governance across platforms.
• Analyze production issues and assess downstream impacts across trading, risk, and operations.
• Collaborate with global teams to deliver resilient, high-performing services using REST/ microservices.
