Job summary

Morgan Stanley in Montreal, Quebec is seeking a Java Tech Lead to design and deliver scalable, cloud-ready transaction processing platforms for electronic trading, asset processing, and settlement in our Institutional Securities business.

You will mentor engineers, own architecture, drive CI/CD and secure coding, collaborate with product, risk and compliance, and ensure reliable releases in a hybrid Montreal-office environment with bilingual requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of enterprise Java/Spring experience.
• Strong design and implementation fundamentals for scalable systems.
• Experience with multithreading/concurrency.
• Experience with distributed tech (messaging brokers, caching).
• Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with domain-driven, event-driven, and REST architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of Java/Spring services for the custody platform focusing on scalability and maintainability.
• Own technical architecture and design decisions for data processing workflows.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and coaching to improve code quality.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and tasks.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and production support for reliable releases.
