Job summary

Trolley is hiring a Lead Data Engineer to own the data platform, lead the data team, and leverage data with AI across the business. The role is hands‑on with a player‑coach dynamic, managing one data engineer today and growing the team as needs expand.

You will oversee ingestion, modeling, quality, and cost of the Databricks lakehouse, drive pipelines from production platforms and SaaS sources, and ensure fast, self‑serve reporting while maintaining strong data governance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering with ownership of a production data platform.
• Experience leading other engineers, mentoring or managing a small team.
• Deep experience with Databricks or a similar lakehouse, SQL, and Python.
• Experience building reliable pipelines from operational databases and SaaS systems.
• Experience supporting finance or accounting processes with data.
• Hands‑on use of AI tools in your own engineering work and strategic thinking about AI usage.
• Comfortable as the most senior data person in the company with high autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the data team, coach the data engineer, and set standards for code, testing and on-call for data.
• Own the Databricks lakehouse end to end: ingestion, modelling, quality and cost.
• Build and run pipelines from production platform, Salesforce, NetSuite and third‑party sources.
• Keep internal reporting in Sigma accurate, fast and self‑serve.
• Make pipelines observable and recoverable with clear ownership and fast fixes.
• Partner with Finance on month‑end close, revenue calculations and vendor cost reconciliation.
• Build data products for customers and embed reporting features in the product.
• Put data to work with AI by building safe data foundations and integrating AI tools.
