Job summary

Apave Canada in Calgary is seeking a Lead Composite Technician – Blade Repair to spearhead advanced repairs on wind turbine blades, nacelles and nose cones.

You will supervise technicians in the field and shop, coordinate with operations and maintenance teams, and ensure projects meet safety, quality and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on composite repairs experience.
• Strong knowledge of composite materials, vacuum infusion, and gel coat application.
• Ability to work at heights and in diverse environments.
• Valid driver's license; willingness to travel including overnight stays.
• GWO and IRATA certifications are a plus.

• Assist with setup, inspection, and maintenance of wind turbine systems and equipment.

Lead Composite Technician – Blade Repair - Calgary, AB

Apave Canada has an immediate, full-time positions available for Lead Composite Technicians within our Wind Services Department.

Job Duties:

• Lead and perform advanced composite repairs on wind turbine blades, nacelles and nose cones (Structural, surface and lightning)
• Supervise and mentor a team of technicians in the field and shop
• Assisting with the setup, inspection, and maintenance of wind turbine systems and equipment.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and technical services, to complete projects and resolve any issues.
• Maintaining knowledge of industry best practices, safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to wind turbine maintenance.
• Staying up to date with the latest wind turbine maintenance techniques and technology.
• Support rigging and platform operation teams.

Required Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have the following certifications and experience.

• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including at heights.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Travel (including overnight stays out of town) will be required.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in composite repairs,
• Strong Knowledge of composite materials, vacuum infusion, and gel coat application,
• GWO and IRATA certification would be an asset.

Safety Requirements:

• Steel-toe boots are required; Apave Canada will provide additional PPE.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Health benefits that meet or exceed industry standards will be provided after a 3-month probationary period.
