Position Summary

Interior Health is looking for an experienced Lead, Collaboration and Communications to join our team on a full time permanent basis.

This position offers a flexible work location from within British Columbia, but does require regular travel/in office time in Kelowna.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about Microsoft 365 and the role technology plays in enabling collaboration, communication, and productivity across Interior Health. As our Microsoft 365 ecosystem continues to expand, we are looking for a Lead who can bring strong technical and product ownership expertise while also providing day-to-day leadership and support for the team. The role will serve as the primary steward of our Microsoft 365 platform, helping shape strategy, governance, roadmaps, and service evolution to ensure we continue to meet the needs of the organization.

Reporting to the Manager Collaboration Systems, the successful candidate will work closely with teams across Interior Health, provincial partners, and vendors to identify opportunities for innovation, guide product direction, and ensure our collaboration and communications services continue to deliver value for staff and the organization. Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $90,770 (min) to $113,462 (midpoint) to $130,481 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Interior Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

About the job:

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Lead, Collaboration and Communications (Lead) provides operational leadership, product ownership, governance oversight, and strategic direction for Microsoft 365 and enterprise collaboration services. The Lead is responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and execution of initiatives to ensure alignment with the business needs of Interior Health (IH) and the Health Technology portfolio. This includes evaluating emerging technologies in an effort to find technology solutions that provides value to the organization.

Typical duties and responsibilities:

• Provides operational product ownership for Microsoft 365 and enterprise collaboration services.
• Evaluates emerging technologies, vendor roadmaps, service enhancements, and industry trends, assessing organizational impact, risks, opportunities, and business value.
• Represents IH in the Health Technology community by liaising with provincial partners, other organizations, software vendors, and on various internal and external committees.
• Represents Interior Health on provincial working groups, advisory committees, vendor forums, and collaboration initiatives.
• Manages the activities of the Collaboration Technologies team by performing duties such as:
  • Coordination of work activities within the department by establishing work schedules and priorities, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
  • Maintaining timekeeping/payroll documentation and performing other related duties such as: scheduling for relief staff, authorizing overtime, and arranging vacations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Hiring staff by reviewing applications, conducting interviews, checking references, and on boarding new staff.
  • Evaluating employee performance, determining related training and orientation requirements, and facilitating employee personal and career development.
  • Providing direction and coaching to team members to meet organizational needs and expectations.
  • Promotes a safe, respectful, inclusive, collaborative, and service‑oriented work environment.
• Acts as a liaison with members of the assigned areas/departments and vendors to trouble shoot problems, assess priorities, research and evaluate alternatives, and implement recommendations.
• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualfications

Education, Training, and Experience

• Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Communications or Leadership.
• Minimum of 5 years in managing a complex business environment (preferably health care) including responsibilities for planning, project management, system development, staff development, and supervision.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Detailed understanding of the function, process, and integration of information technology in a healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff and budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, manage, implement, and organize major projects and to problem solve. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff, Health Authority management, and external parties.
