Job summary

Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) seeks a PhD Clinical Laboratory Geneticist with CCMG/ABMGG subspecialty to lead genetic testing in the Genetics and Genomics division. You will oversee testing, interpret complex results, and collaborate with clinicians and counsellors to inform patient care.

The role emphasizes QA, regulatory compliance, and ongoing research; teaching responsibilities and a University of Alberta clinical appointment are anticipated; sponsorship is available for eligible

Qualifications

  • PhD in Genetics or related field with board certification in Genetic and Genomic Diagnostics, Cytogenetics, or Molecular Genetics.
  • Board certification by CCMG or ABMGG; board eligible candidates considered at appropriate compensation.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience and dual certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee genetic testing and analysis using PCR, sequencing, gene panels and exomes, and/or cytogenetics.
  • Interpret complex genetic data and integrate results into patient care plans.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and genetic counsellors; ensure compliance with QA standards.
  • Engage in teaching, mentoring, and University of Alberta clinical appointment.
