Job summary

Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) invites applications for an Indeterminate, Full-time Principal Cleaner in Ottawa, ON. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the role leads a team of cleaners in a 12-storey office building and ensures high cleaning standards and safety.

Requirements include 3–5 years in large commercial cleaning, 1–3 years in lead/supervisory roles, experience supervising unionized staff under a collective agreement, and strong knowledge of WHMIS and green cleaning

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in large commercial or office cleaning environments.
• 1–3 years in a lead hand or supervisory capacity.
• Experience supervising unionized staff under a collective agreement.
• Strong knowledge of WHMIS regulations and MSDS specifications.
• Strong reading, comprehension, organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of green cleaning standards and environmentally responsible cleaning practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, suppliers, and service providers.
• Ability to follow manufacturer product and equipment instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards, lead and hold staff accountable, and ensure a safe and professional workplace culture.
• Proficiency in providing clear instructions, product or equipment demonstrations, training, coaching, and motivating staff members.
