Job summary

Pomeroy Lodging is seeking a Laundry Attendant in Kananaskis, AB, to handle daily cleaning, processing, and guest laundry. You’ll maintain equipment and follow hotel standards to ensure timely delivery of clean linens and towels. The role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma.
  • Previous laundry or housekeeping experience an asset.
  • Ability to operate laundry machinery or learn quickly with training.
  • Good understanding of fabric care and stain treatment.
  • Ability to lift, push, and move heavy loads and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry following established procedures.
  • Inspect items for stains, damage, and cleanliness; report missing or damaged items.
  • Ensure proper use and dosage of chemicals, detergents, and equipment according to safety standards.
  • Load and unload laundry machines safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain workflow to meet daily production targets and hotel operational needs.
  • Deliver processed linens to storage areas or floors as directed.
  • Follow departmental standards, policies and procedures.

The Role

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the daily cleaning, processing, and handling of hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry. This role ensures all laundry is cleaned to hotel standards, delivered on time, and handled safely and efficiently. The attendant supports smooth laundry operations by maintaining equipment, following procedures, and keeping the work area clean and organized.

Job Duties
Operational Responsibilities
  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry following established procedures.
  • Inspect all items for stains, damage, and cleanliness; report missing or damaged items to the Laundry Supervisor.
  • Ensure proper use and dosage of chemicals, detergents, and equipment according to safety and brand standards.
  • Load and unload laundry machines safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain workflow to meet daily production targets and hotel operational needs.
  • Assist in handling guest laundry, including tagging, washing, drying, pressing, and packaging.
  • Deliver processed linens to designated storage areas or floors as directed.
  • Follow proper departmental standards, policies and procedures.
Workplace Cleanliness & Safety
  • Keep all laundry areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Follow all health, safety, and hygiene standards, including chemical-handling and equipment safety procedures.
  • Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, or safety hazards promptly to the Laundry Supervisor or Manager.
  • Participate in safety training, including emergency and chemical-handling procedures.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Equipment & Inventory Support
  • Operate all laundry equipment (washers, dryers, ironers, folders) safely and properly.
  • Perform basic daily care and cleaning of equipment.
  • Help monitor linen quantities and report shortages or unusual damage.
  • Assist with linen inventories as required.
Employment Experience And Educational Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma.
  • Previous laundry or housekeeping experience an asset.
  • Ability to operate laundry machinery or learn quickly with training.
  • Good understanding of fabric care and stain treatment.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and maintain quality standards.
  • Basic communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, and move heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to work in a warm, fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on one’s feet for the entirety of the shift.
  • Lifting, carrying and handling heavy loads of laundry, towels and other items. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Repetitive lifting laundry in and out of machines.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals with PPE.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
