Job description

Our philosophy is “to be great you need to have great people”.Accordingly, we are always searching for “great people”. If you thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial workplace we would be very interested in hearing from you.

A Day in YOUR Life as a Laundry Attendant

Every person that enters a hotel should be greeted and feel like a guest! This is YOU on your first day of work and every work day after that. You walk in with a smile, say hello to passing guests and acknowledge your colleagues perhaps with a smile, nod or salutation. You already have a feel for how your day is going to unfold based on the flow and noise level in the lobby and you aren’t even in uniform yet! You make your way to the employee change room and transform into your sharp, clean look with your professional and comfortable uniform, punch in at the time clock and energetically join your teammates as they prepare for the days turnover of rooms.

You will be preparing to see how you and your teammates will tackle the new pile of laundry that accumulated from guest rooms, restaurant, and other departments. Regardless of the time of day or length of shift, you are ready to meet every guest with exceptional service, cleanliness and care!

As the day begins, we focus on sorting linens based on colour, type of fabric. You check inventory and determine which linens are needed the most. This will enable you to efficiently plan your day and prioritize the things that need to be completed before you go home for the day. You will operate and monitor the washing and drying machinery, including adding chemicals. You understand that these linens are an asset of the hotel and identify stained or damaged items to determine the best treatment. After inspecting the cleanliness of linens removed from the dryer, you place them in a clean linen cart, ready to be folded quickly to avoid wrinkles. You understand that your days can be different depending on the hotel occupancy. If the hotel is full, you will be running between the washer and the dryer which are full of bed sheets and towels. You fold linens perfectly and set them on the correct shelf, getting them ready to distribute to your housekeeping teammates. We may have a wedding reception at our banquet room, so you will need to prepare extra sparkling clean dinner napkins and tablecloths. You know how to treat stains and feel accomplished after you are successful in removing them! You have an appreciation for the feel and smell of fresh towels and linens, and know our guests will appreciate them too. You are always focused on our guests and their needs. Don’t forget you are their ambassador to our hotel, surroundings and city. By the time you leave you are more than satisfied that your teammates have impeccably cleaned and are stocked with linens/towels ready for our valued guests.

Your standards are high, you like to be efficient in how you tackle a pile of laundry and look for things that need to be corrected, communicate those through appropriate channels and take immense pride in the quality and cleanliness of the product our guests are paying for!

Who you are and why is this important…
  • Enthusiastic, Attentive and Approachable
    • Ensuring our guests and team mates feel comfortable.
  • Organized, Clean & Communicative
    • Clear, concise communication between team members and guests alike creates a smooth operation.
  • Effective Multi-Tasker
    • Personal interactions, daily duties and on-going projects are always in play.
What happens behind the scenes of all those interactions…
  • You follow company policies and standards such as providing a constant supply of clean linens and any other requirements for the processes as outlined by your department leaders;
  • Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and ensure necessary chemicals are added in the correct quantities prior to wash cycles;
  • Inspect all laundry and record all damaged or stained items, then fold clean linens and store them;
