Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Laundry Aide to support residents in a long-term care setting. You will sort, launder, dry, iron, and fold garments, with attention to safety and resident dignity. Responsibilities include simple repairs, equipment maintenance, and transport of laundered items to floors. Reading and writing skills are required.

Salary is $21.19 per hour. Prior laundry experience is preferred, and Grade 12 Diploma is an asset. Canadian work experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a laundry operation is preferred.
• Must understand the basics of good laundry techniques/practices.
• A minimum of public-school education is required. Grade 12 Diploma preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and follow oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Sort and separates items to be laundered in accordance with laundering requirements.
• Operates automatic washing machines, dryers, irons and sewing machine.
• Hand irons and folds/hangs garments after laundering.
• Performs simple mending and repairs.
• Transports laundered garments to appropriate floors.
• Ensures proper identification of all personal clothing.
• Maintains a clean work environment, dusting and washing equipment and shelves as required.
• Maintains appropriate level of supplies (e.g. soap, bleach, fabric softener and thread).
• Cleans work area upon completion of shift.
