Job summary

AgeCare in Hamilton is seeking a Laundry Aide to provide residents with clean, well-maintained clothing and linens. The role includes sorting, operating washing machines and irons, and transporting laundered garments to the correct floors, while ensuring proper item identification.

Candidates should have basics of laundry techniques, read/write ability, and a Grade 12 education. Salary is $20.71 per hour with placement based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a laundry operation is preferred.
• Must understand the basics of good laundry techniques/practices.
• A minimum of public-school education is required. Grade 12 Diploma preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and follow oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Sorts and separates items to be laundered in accordance with laundering requirements.
• Operates automatic washing machines, dryers, irons and sewing machine.
• Hand irons and folds/hangs garments after laundering.
• Performs simple mending and repairs.
• Transports laundered garments to appropriate floors.
• Ensures proper identification of all personal clothing.
• Maintains a clean work environment, dusting and washing equipment and shelves as required.
• Maintains appropriate level of supplies (e.g. soap, bleach, fabric softener and thread).
• Cleans work area upon completion of shift.
