Job summary

Ambico Limited in Ottawa is seeking a Machine Operator 2 to program, set up, and operate laser cutting and press brake equipment to produce high-quality, customized metal components.

You will read drawings, plan material usage, nest parts, and work with Engineering and Production teams in a Monday–Friday, on-site schedule from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with a comprehensive benefits package and a unionized work environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma.
• CNC operator certificate or comparable certification is an asset.
• At least 2 years of experience working with a CNC machine.

Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings and identify discrepancies for Lead Hand and Engineering.
• Plan and organize production workflow and material staging.
• Program/ nest parts for laser cutting using appropriate software for material optimization.
• Operate CNC equipment including laser cutters and press brakes and perform program start-up and changeovers.
• Generate/adjust machine programs (press brake) to meet job specs.
• Verify part quality against drawings and standards and assist quality improvement.
• Track material usage and labor hours for costing and reporting.
• Mentor junior operators and support training and safety initiatives.
